Art is beyond boundaries ..time limits..cultural belongings..
A chance when you don’t need an interpreter no matter if you are in Minsk, Belarus or in Kanagawa, Japan on 1th of November because Chagall is talking to you on his own language…
Marc Chagall (1887-1985), the master who continuously tried to escape from the reality finding a perfect world in his memories of childhood in Vitebsk then in Paris, always desperately in love with his wife Bella…every time they fly over his memories on his pictures (over the city with animals, flowers, music). There is only one thing you want admiring them is to join them, to fly over there just for being happy as they are, to hear “that” music and to feel Chagall’s world. Every time looking at his masterpieces, you have a chance to experience these emotions.
Nothing else matters for Chagall. Even during the years of the Second World War, the only dream is to hide everybody on his canvas: people together with his rams, cocks, horses. Drawing them in order to protect, to save from the evil... “a baby dream” somehow. The main Chagall’s philosophy: to look at the world with pure child’s eyes even though you can’t stand the surroundings cause not a child anymore…
Only after Bella’s death in 1944 we can feel the presence of “the evil” from the real world in his works but it is still a baby who is drawing…an angry lost child.
Another great theme of his works is “The circus”: the only place where an old man becomes a child again who is able to see the beauty…“Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.” (Franz Kafka)
